Brisk Bothmaskop Breakfast

A spur of the moment decision to do some hiking led myself and a friend to the top of Bothmaskop early one Saturday morning. There we enjoyed a frugal breakfast consisting of peach flavoured sparkling wine, Salty Cracks and Sweet Chilli Cream Cheese. After admiring the view, we returned home with the entire afternoon left intact.

Boesmanskloof Trail

The Boemanskloof Trail (also know as the Greyton-McGregor Trail) winds through the Riversonderend Mountains in the Robertson Karoo region of the South-Western Cape. The trail links the small towns of McGregor in the north and Greyton in the south. It passes through the Riversonderend Conservation Area, which is a declared mountain catchment area comprised of water falls, mountains pools, over 2000 different species of fynbos and much more. If you’re adventurous and looking for a scenic route with a bit of meat, this is definitely the one!

Bothmaskop Sleepover

Of the Stellenbosch Mountains, Bothmaskop is perhaps the easiest to conquer. Nonetheless, it offers amazing views over the Stellenbosch area and conveniently includes a small, natural shelter on the summit, making it ideal for adventurous sleep-overs.

Lion’s Head full moon hike

The Mother City is quite beautiful by night, especially over a picnic on Lion’s Head under the full moon.  This is one experience you won’t regret. It is an easy hike to the top and the 360 degree views are spectacular!
